HOSTA 2008

Hostas, also know as Plantainlily, are one of the best and most popular perennials for shady sites. Most flower in the summer, but they are thought of more fondly for their outstanding foliage. Although often considered common plants, savvy gardeners around the world appreciate the subtle variety of color, texture, shape and size.  They make excellent groundcovers, border plants and do wonderfully in container gardens. Hosta will grow in most any soil but perform best when planted in moist well-drained soil in part shade. Considered a shade plant by most, many hosta varieties tolerate more sun than given credit.  Hostas are members of the Lily family and named for royal physician Nicholas Host (1761-1834).  Below is a list of hostas we plan on having available this spring, others will be available as the season progresses.
