Garden Matters Lecture Series

Saturday February 25 Kennedy’s Country Gardens kicks off our “Garden Matters” Lecture Series in the greenhouses.

9:30 AM Organic Seed Starting – Paul F Split

During the presentation Paul F. Split will show how to grow your own vegetables, herbs and flowers from seed.  Seed selection, propagation, and an interplanting schedule will be discussed.

11:30 am Cooking with Herbs – Paul F Split

During this cooking demonstration, Horticulturalist, Paul F. Split will explore a selection of herbs and the techniques used to grow and use them.  Samples of prepared herbs will be available following the presentation.

1 pm Landscaping – Adding Beauty & Property Value to Your Home – Chris Kennedy, MCH

Certified Horticulturist and Landscape Designer Chris Kennedy of Kennedy’s Country Gardens will cover the basics about improving your property value with beautiful easy to grow gardens around your home.   He will explain everything from soil preperation to plant selection.  Chris will let you know ways Kennedy’s can help you succeed in having the envy of the neighborhood without devoting your life to the garden.

2:30 pm Pruning Basics for Healthy Easy Care Gardens – Nick Vallas Bartlett Tree

Certified Arborist Nick Vallas of Bartlett Tree Company will give you an overview of pruning basics and demonstrate proper techniques to keeping your plants happy, healthy and beautiful.  Nick will also touch on the most common and some of the newer insect problems to be aware of.

During the Day

~ Massachusetts Master Gardener will be on hand to answer garden questions at their booth.

~ Betty Greene will be available to offer your landscape design solutions and answer questions.

~ Owners of Organic Plant Magic soil amendment will be at Kennedy’s to answer questions about organic gardening.
