Fertilizers – We carry quality lines such as Organica, Espoma, MNLA and Bay State among others. Organica is the best 4 step Step Lawn Care program for the do-it-yourself homeowner. Espoma has a great line of earth friendly shrub, tree, and vegetable fertilizers. MNLA is a semi-organic. Strong enough to green lawns quickly, but has the long lasting qualities of an organic fertilizer. Turf-O-Ganic is the perfect bridge product for lawns coming off the highs of stronger chemically induced fertilizers. Bay State is a sludge product made in Boston Harbor. It is a recycled products, great for lawns and non-edible gardens.
Organics – see our Organics page, but one company we’d like to highlight is called Organic Plant Magic. We love this company for many reasons. They are local and as greens as it gets. In fact the owners are customers from Marshfield and now we are customers of theirs. They have a product that is partly a fertilizer and partly a remedy. It’s most common use is as a soil additive. You add it to soil before planting trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetables, herbs, houseplants, just about any kind of plant basically. This product is a very fine black powder that comes in a bag. You mix it into the soil. If you forget, no worries. You can mix it with water and make a solution that can be poured or sprayed into the soil and onto the foliage of the plant. Organic Plant Magic is a mixture of highly coconcentrated living organisms that do positive things for plants. For the roots, it improves the performance of root systems. It helps keep the bad guys away and improves the effectiveness of the plant to absorb nutrients. The food in it feeds the micro-organisms and allows them to multiply. The living organisms also work well on the leaves by fending off disease spores that can cause fungi and mildew problems. We recommend using this product when planting new plants and using at least monthly to maintain healthy plants. Use more often on plants that are susceptible to disease on the foliage. Soils & Mulches – Kennedy’s uses the very best suppliers of coils and mulches such as Fafard & Coast of Maine. Both companies are focused on quality. Fafard’s Complete Plant Mix is our most popular soil product and we recommend it for planting trees and shrubs. Coast of Maine potting soil is an excellent product and so is their bagged Compost. They are effective particularly for their high content of living micro-organisms that do beneficial things for plants such as break down nutrients and retain moisture for thirsty plants. Coast of Maine supplies us with most of our bagged mulches. They have very consistent quality. Dark bark is the most popular and their Enriching Mulch is one of the best mulches for using around more tender plants such as perennials and vegetables.
Tools & Garden Gadgets – Kennedy’s features some of the highest quality tools known to trues gardeners. Felco, Corona are two of the best names in for pruning tools. One of our favorite tools is te Circle hoe. It makes weeding much easier, trust us, we use this tool in our own display gardens!
