Zone 6. Proven Winner. Astilbe Music Series – ‘Jump & Jive’, ‘Rhythm & Beat’ and ‘Rock & Roll’. We ordered the best three out the amazing new series of Astilbes. All three plants are compact growers, only 12-24”. Jump & Jive has bright pink plumes and is the smallest of the series. Rhythm & Beat boasts a purplish pink flower that is a re-blooms. Rock & Roll is a white re-bloomer. Astilbe simplicifolia ‘Key West’ – With this
name it has to be a fun plant. A
dwarf form, with deep magenta, feather-like plumes above dark green and burgundy
foliage in summer. Great as an
edging plant or for front of the border. Flower
spikes reach 15-18" tall, with foliage to 10". Zones 3 – 8.
Partial sun. Baptisia x ‘Twilite Prairieblues’ – Long blooming, late May into June, with 32” spikes of violet-purple flowers with yellow keel, emerging from attractive, blue green foliage. Can produce close to 100 flower spikes by its third year. Zone 4. Coreopsis ‘Autumn Blush’ – Attractive, large, golden orange flowers, with burgundy eyes, bloom in abundance beginning late spring. Flowers fade to a lighter peachy yellow with the warm days of summer and continue blooming until fall, over mounds of delicate green foliage. Grows 25” tall. Full sun. Zone 6. Coreopsis ‘Jethro Tull’ – Dude you’ll think this plant is cool! Bright Golden yellow flowers, fluted petals and a compact nature. Extremely floriferous. Blooms mid-spring to mid-summer. 18” tall. Excellent cut flower. Full sun. Zone 4. Coreopsis ‘Pinwheel’ – Tickseed -Charming,
light yellow, flared pinwheel shaped flowers over a mound of lacy, bluish green
foliage. Wonderful color, wonderful shape. This hardy selection flowers all
summer and is an easy to grow charmer. Zone
5. 24” tall x 32” wide.
Full sun. Coreopsis ‘Snowberry’ - Large, cream flowers
with striking, burgundy eyes bloom profusely all summer on 26” stems.
Rich green foliage has a mounding habit.
Hardy only to Zone 6. Coreopsis
‘Sunshine Superman’: Gold daisy-like flowers with orange-gold centers are long blooming from
June-September over low growing, slightly hairy foliage. Grows

longest blooming Campanula we've ever seen. 'Summertime Blues' has masses of
large, silver blue bells on 2 foot, upright stems…all spring, summer and fall!

sun. Digitalis ‘Spice Island’ – Peachy-yellow flowers, dusted nutmeg, on numerous, 2-3’ tall, sturdy, upright spikes. Differs from all other foxgloves with evergreen, glossy, dark green, lance shaped leaves. Blooms repeatedly June-September. Full/part sun. Zone 3. Echinacea ‘Fatal Attraction’ – So many Coneflowers so little space. This is another great new eye catching variety. Recommended by our grower. Hot pink to red flowers with deep orange center cones. Blooms late June on unique black stems with rich green foliage. Grows 26” tall. Full sun. Zone 4. Echinacea ‘Harvest Moon’ – Blooms are 4”
across in a rich bright yellow color with a brown center cone. With superior garden performance the flowers won’t fade or
wilt and they last 2 weeks or more as a cut flower.
Blooms in July, re-blooming later in the season when deadheaded.
Full sun. Hardy to Zone 4. Echinacea ‘Pink Double Delight’
- Well-branched, sturdy flower stems are perfect for cutting! Blooms for 2-3

4. Echinacea purpurea ‘Razzmatazz’ – remarkable flowers open normally, then slowly developing a large pompom of fringed, rose-pink center petals. Blooms July-September on 30” stems. Easy to grow and heat tolerant. Long lasting as a cut flower. Full sun. Echinacea ‘Summer Sky’: Orange-yellow, bi-colored blossoms that reach up to 5” in size. Grows 30-36” tall and blooms throughout summer. Echinacea ‘Vintage Wine’ – Dark green foliage
bearing rosy wine flowers with golden brown cones.

are upright rather than hanging. Zone
3. Gaillardia ‘Oranges and Lemons’ – A color and
form breakthrough with orange cantaloupe flowers that have tangerine yellow tips
on the petals and orange center cones with a darker ring around the base.
Blooms summer to fall on 22-26” sturdy stems.

‘Tanager’ – Exciting new plant
with electrifying orange single 2” daisies starting in April and continuing
through frost. A small plant 4-6”
tall, best if planted in masses. Needs

apricot flowers with a burgundy eye zone that bleeds along the petal edge.
A unique look. 4” flowers 25” high. Hemerocallis ‘Chesapeake Crablegs’ – 7” bright red/orange spider type flower with light orange rays. A rare re-blooming spider type. 36” tall. Hemerocallis ‘Love Those Eyes’ – An extended
bloomer with golden yellow flowers, 4.5” wide, that have a striking red eye
and yellow throat. Ruffled with
slightly recurved petals. Blooms
mid-summer on 24” scapes withup to 15 buds per scape.

‘Variety is the Spice’ – A double coral red 4” flower.
High bud per stem. 24” tall. Starts
blooming early and reblooms for most of the summer.

Hemerocallis ‘French Tudor’ – Large, 6.5”,
rose-pink flowers, with chartreuse and pale cream-mauve watermark.
Flowers 28” tall in early to mid-summer with re-bloom.
Each scape carries 25-30 buds. Hemerocallis Ruby Stella – Not brand new, but worth mentioning. 18” re-blooming daylily with deep scarlet flowers from early summer until first frost. Compact 14-18” plant. Full/part sun. Zone 3. Coral Bells – several varieties below Heuchera ‘Caramel’ – We had a limited supply
of these in ’06. I thought this
one was striking. The growers also
say good things about this one. Honey-apricot
leaves with red undersides bear light pink blooms in summer and will lighten the
shade garden from spring until fall. Zone
4. Heuchera ‘Lime Rickey’ – This
one was also available last year and definitely worth mentioning.
Striking in the garden mixed among other perennials.
Glowing, ruffled chartreuse leaves in spring fading to green, small white
flowers in June, 18”.
Heuchera ‘Marmalade’ - Rich, soft undulating foliage ranging in color from umber to deep sienna. Particular notice is paid to its hot pink undersides that make this plant shout “Take me Home”! Showy in all seasons, this vigorous plant has heavy substance standing up to the inclement weather. Heuchera ‘Midnight Rose’ - We’re hoping we can get our hands on a few of these this year. Striking new plant. Hot Pink polka dots adorn the beautiful dark foliage. Pink flecks emerge in spring and continue to enlarge and brighten before lightening to cream as the season progresses. Bold, black, and beautiful for sunny locations. Zone 4. Heuchera ‘Black Obsidian’ – We had Obsidian at
Kennedy’s last year, but it is still very new.
You must see our specimens in the display garden to the right of our
waterfall. Smooth, broad deep red
almost black leaves that are the darkest of the heucheras, white flowers, 10”,
June-July. Heuchera ‘Paris’ – This one has it all.
White-veiled green leaves with dark veins, deep pink flowers on strong
stems for 8 weeks in spring. The
grower claims it is the best flowering variety. Grows 14”. Heucheralla ‘Stoplight’ – Limited availability
in 2006. Great looking plant. It
has large leaves, which are more intensely yellow with a darker, larger central
splotch. White spike flowers appear
from May-June. Grows 18” tall. Hosta ‘Bill Brincka’ - Shiny, rich green leaves
have nicely contrasting yellow margins and a wavy nature providing added
interest. Grows 24” tall and
48-60” wide. Lavender flowers
bloom on 30-40” scapes in late summer. Hosta ‘Dancing in the Rain’ - NEW!
This hosta looks great even on a rainy day!
This outstanding, variegated sport of ‘Blue Umbrellas’ grows 40”
tall and wide and has large, pure white centers with blue-green streaks and
margins. The leaf centers tend to
green up in extreme heat. Light-lavender
flowers bloom in mid summer. Hosta ‘Eskimo Pie’ - Each round corrugated,
blue-green leaf is highlighted by a large, creamy central pattern.
As the season progresses, the central pattern lightens to near white.
Makes a 3’ wide clump that is topped with near white flowers on 30”
scapes in late spring. Hosta ‘Fireworks’ - NEW! This dwarf sport of H. Loyalist is a Walters Gardens
introduction. Its leaves are
narrow, sturdy and upright with dark and light green margins around white
centers. It grows just 8-10” tall
with a spread up to 8” Pale lavender flowers bloom on 12” stems in
mid-summer. Hosta ‘Stained Glass’ - This H. ‘Guacamole’
sport has all the great qualities of the great qualities of its parent but it
shows variegation earlier in spring with its vibrant gold coloring going strong
all season. It has the nice
mounding habit and vigor ‘Guacamole’ and gets its name from distinctive
veining pattern on its leaves. Grows
15” tall and 3-4’ wide with fragrant, near white flowers in late summer. Phlox stolonifera ‘Fran’s Purple’ - Purple-lilac
flowering form with a smaller stature and bloom. Grows 6-8” tall, with masses of starry blooms May-July.
Makes a nice edging or front of border groundcover. Pulsitilla patens - An early flowering variety with
delightful, bluish purple flowers that have nicely contrasting yellow centers.
Blooms Feb-April amidst fine, dark green foliage.
Grows up to 8” tall. Salvia ‘Pink Friesland’ - Deep rosy pink flower
spikes over a compact, bushy plant, an improvement over ‘Rose Queen’,
12-18”. Salvia ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ - Flowers abound!
Often 25-30 flowering stems per plant.
The vibrant flowers have a two-tone look with blue and violet spikes
blooming June-Aug. The wide green
foliage has a gray gloss and the plant overall is characterized by its densely
vertical and comparatively compact, bushy habit.
A fast grower, reaching 24 inches tall in full sun. Sedum telephium
‘Autumn Charm’: Variegated version of the popular Autumn Joy. Green with pale yellow margins.
Cream white buds open to pink flowers in mid-summer, darkening to rose in
late summer. Grows 15” tall. Sedum ‘Xenox’: A nice, short, compact variety with dark gray-purple foliage and warm pink flowers blooming Aug-Oct. and deepening with maturity. Grows 10-14” tall. Tiarella ‘Black Snowflake’ – a favorite new
plant of our own Moira. Elegant
plant with finely dissected leaves with prominent black center and scented white
flowers. Spring foliage color is
vibrant with the contrast between black and green. Zone 4. Veronica prostrata ‘Goldwell’ -Striking, narrow leaves are edged in gold. The plant forms a wonderful mat of texture and it’s soft blue/purple spikes appear in late spring. Great at the edge of perennial beds or cascading over the sides of containers in full sun. In fall, the foliage takes on a dark red color for seasonal interest. 3” tall x 18” wide. Viola ‘Blue Seal’
- Compact plant with big blue
flowers and striking yellow lower petal. Blooms
from April well into summer if given some shade. 6-8” tall. Spreading
habit. Viola ‘Columbine’: Sweet fragrant, soft violet flowers are streaked and splashed with violet markings and accented by a tiny yellow eye making this a beautiful addition to the garden from late spring into summer and then again in fall, 6-8”. Viola ‘Rebecca improved’: Tricolor flowers of cream, white and yellow with deep violet stripes radiating towards the center, fragrant, 8-10”. All plants
