to grow. Plant in full sun
to part shade, in well-drained, moisture
retentive soil. Be sure not to plant too deeply, eyes should be at or
slightly above soil level. If planted too deeply peonies
may not bloom. Staking your plant may be necessary. Investing in a
good peony staking kit is wise, you can stake early and reuse year after year. Peonies if not disturbed are long lived to 100 years
or more… Tree Peonies Tree peonies are slow growing, woody shrubs.
Their branches do not die down in the fall and should not be cut to the
ground as is done with herbaceous peonies.
They should be grown and treated as a shrub. Given time and proper care, tree peonies will develop
into spectacular specimens 4-6’ wide and about 4’ tall.
Older specimens produce 50 to 200 blooms per plant and the attractive
foliage is an asset to any garden landscape. This year we will be offering
several superior varieties. |
